I. Welcome

Welcome to the official guide for DroidArena 3. This guide is designed to teach you the basics of DroidArena. This guide will look at all the aspects of the game with the exception of RSL (Robot Scripting Language) which is covered in its own manual, and has its channel on irc.droidarena.com, #rsl.


II. Changes since Season 8

Season 9 holds many changes in layout and game content, as well as bug fixes. There is a more structured and comprehensive research tree, as well as the old style of structures from earlier seasons The layout is completely changes so please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself.

In addition to the changes in the research tree comes changes in the hangar setup. There is now a spare parts section and corp armoury that is functional. Additional types of UP's have been added and a new way of applying them also has been added. Additional changes will be found throughout the remaining pages of DA.

III. Overview

Before we delve into the game there are a few points that we will touch on that will help you understand the game.

IV. Character Overview

 

Your Character is you as a Decker. You are in charge of your own base and droid, what you do will determine how well you do in the game. Clicking on your Nick (or alias) in the side bar, takes you to your character's info page, clicking on another players name from the Deckers.net takes you to their character info page. This shows you a number of pieces of information that tell you how well you are doing.

Alias: This shows how your Character name and Player ID.

Corporation: This shows which (if any) corporation you belong to and your position within the corporation.

ICQ: This shows your ICQ number (if you have one set in your preferences).

Account Type: This shows if a player is a premium or a trial player.

Level: This shows your current level.

Kills: This shows the total number of droids you have destroyed in arena combat.

Last Login: This gives the date and time that you last logged in.

Rank: This shows your player rank with in the game.

Arenas Won: This shows the number of arenas you have won.

Arenas Lost: This shows the number of arenas you have lost.

Weekly Form Guide: This bar graph gives you a weekly breakdown of your performance based on the following formula: (XP/multiplier)*(Kills/arenas)*(wins/arenas)*(arenas/most arenas played this period).

Corp History: This button takes you to a page that shows your corp history (which corps you have joined/left and positions (if any) in those corps).

Send Message To Player: This button allows you to send an in game message to that player.

Player's Awards: This shows any award(s) that a player has been given.

Also on your player page at the top you will see; Deckers.Net - Celebrities Listing. This allows you to either use a manual search or alphabetical search to find other players within the game.

Character Statistics

Each character has his / her own statistics, resources and details. A small summary of the deckers’ statistics appears at the top left of the page, and a more detailed version can be seen when clicking on your name. Other players may also see the statistics under your name, with the exception of your resources. The table below lists all the statistics displayed in the status section, the letters in square brackets mark the abbreviation letters for each statistic:

Credits are the main currency in Droidarena, and are used for a multitude of things, such as purchasing equipment.

Construction Points are used in the repair of equipment.

[R]esearch [P]oints

RP

Research Points are used (surprisingly) for researches.

[L]e[v]e[l]

LVL

The level statistic shows you your current level and total amount of XP

This shows which arena (if any) you are currently in and its phase.

V. Icons

There are two types of icons that you should be familiar with. The first is the top bar Icons. This you can customize to your own taste, these clickable icons work like the sub menus from the side bar. The second type of icons are the alert icons.

Top Bar Icons

On the top bar is a tab (icon) that says 'edit' you can click this to see all the tab buttons. Click on an icon to add or remove it from your bar. The icons menu you build is stored as a cookie on your machine so if you clear the cookie the menu is reset to the default on your next login. The icons are as follows (starting at the top left and working left to right) hover your mouse over the icon to find it's name.

VI. Alert Icons

In top right corner of most pages alert icons will appear from time to time, these icons are as follows along with those that are normally there:

An 'A': you will get this if you hold the position of Leader or Approver. This means that someone has requested to join your Corporation.
An Envelope: This means you have unread DA mail
A Face: This means there is a new post on your corporation Forum
A News Tower: This means a new News post has been made.
This is where help for a page can be found
Public Log: This is where actions that all players can see are recorded such as arena takeovers and orbs being bought
A Radio: This means a new radio post has been made in the corp radio.

VII. The Game Itself

This section of the manual is going through each section of the game in depth, explaining each of the aspects of the particular page. The headers are displayed in the format MAIN HEADER / SUBSECTION, the main header being the text on the menu; the subsections are grey text. If you look at the Droidarena site, you will notice that every one of the interface pages has this same layout, so you should be able to find out easily where each section is.

INFORMATION

News:
Clicking on the News Icon or going to Information/News in the menu takes you to this page, the central hub of information for the whole of the Droidarena community. It contains information on everything, from whether the latest update was successful and what it did, to when the next tournament is to be held. Major updates and fixes are posted on this page, along with announcements which will affect the whole of Droidarena, such as reported and confirmed bugs, congratulations to competition winners, and people joining/leaving the Droidarena staff (also known as The Senate). This page can also be reached when the flashing news icon appears, indicating new news has been posted.

NEW PLAYER GUIDE: This is a brief guide that is designed to help new players get started, it was also sent as an attachment in the validation emails everyone got upon registering.

NEW PLAYER CHAT: This takes you to the in game player chat where you will be able to ask other player for help in playing the game.

BASE

This menu is where you control all the aspects related to your base.

Structures: This takes you to your base terminal. from here you can look at the aspects of you base using the blue tabs.

BASE TERMINAL/DROID BASE: This page shows you what is currently built on you base: QTT; is the quantity of any type of building. BUILDINGS gives the name of the building. The square picture show how many tiles any building uses/gives. The bed picture shows how many employers the building requires. The coin shows the income/upkeep of the building in CRs. The Hammer shows the income of the building in CPs. The green vile picture shows the income of the building in RPs, Intel %; shows the Intelligence bonus the building gives. Action; gives you a DESTROY button if the building can be destroyed. This page also shows the number of unemployed people on your base and the number of unoccupied tiles.

BASE TERMINAL/PROJECTS: This page shows all the buildings that you have the knowledge to build. The name, a description of the building and its requirements are shown. any requirements shown in red indicate that the building can not be built and why.

BASE TERMINAL/BUILDING SITE: This page shows any buildings that are in the process of being built and how long until the building will be completed.

BASE TERMINAL BLUEPRINTS: The page gives a complete list of all the building, the level they become available, the cost and time to research the building as well as the building requirements and description.

RESEARCH LAB

Research LAB: This takes you to your lab terminal, from here you can manage the research aspect of the game.

LAB TERMINAL/PROJECTS: This page shows all the research available at the time. It gives the name, cost of the project in time and resources, any other requirement (such as spy levels for spying based projects) and a description for each research. When you are able to start a project a button will appear next to the research saying START.

LAB TERMINAL/ONGOING: This shows your current project and the time until it is completed.

LAB TERMINAL/COMPLETED: This shows all the projects you have completed.

LAB TERMINAL/RESEARCH TREE: This show the four research trees (Constructions, Droid systems, Arena teleport and covert op.) and a list of all the researches, their description and requirements

COVERT OPERATIONS HQ

This takes you to your spy terminal, from here you can mange the spying aspects of the game.

SPY TERMINAL/CONTINGENTS: This page allows you to manage your spies. It tells you how many untrained spies you have and allows you to train them in one of four roles.

This page shows you how many of each type of spy you have and how many are currently on missions (prevention spies are always on missions)

SPY TERMINAL/MISSIONS: This page shows the missions you have available to do and cost to do each mission (in terms of number and type of agents, time and cost in CRs and RPs. This page also gives a description of the spy mission and allows you to perform the missions by inputting a player ID into the action box then pressing Launch. There is also a search button for each mission to allow you to use the player name to search for their PID.

Prevention counters enemy intelligence threats. Prevention is always on. Stopping and identifying attackers depends on your PREVENTION agents. The chance of mission fails depends upon your PRE skill compared to the skill of the attacking agents and any modifiers you may have. Counter mission success is [50% + 4*(YOUR PRE - ATTACKERS SKILL) + (DIFFERENCE IN INTEL BUILDINGS) + (DIFFERENCE IN RESEARCH MODIFIERS)]. Attack skill is the total of all agents hired in that type not just those sent.

Tap enemy communication lines. Your agent plants a temporary trojan virus on the target communication system that sends you messages sent or received by the target in the last 3 hours before destroying itself to hide your identity.

Unregister target in an arena fight. This is a rather dirty way of winning a fight, but effective. Your agents will try to persuade the International Arena League to disallow target to play an arena. You can only do this during the JOIN phase of a fight. Your presence will be revealed to the League and you will privately have to pay a fine, but that is already included in the mission budget. Note this mission cannot be cancelled once initiated.

Plant EMP bomb. An EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) bomb will be set by your agents at the target base. This usually erases all digitally stored data like blackbox logs, script libraries or personal messages, leaving the target in a rather helpless situation.

Transfer corporate funds. Your agents will create a plan to hack into the account of the corporation in which target is a LEADER. If target is not a leader, the mission fails! Then they transfer about 10% of the resources to your corporation via a long chain of anonymous accounts. They will eventually track your agents but it usually takes 2 to 5 hours. Prepare for a counter strike. (Must belong to a corporation to run this mission successfully)

SPY TERMINAL/COMPLETED: This page shows completed mission by you and on you. Missions by you give the name of the mission, the target, the time and date the mission was completed, the success of the mission and whether the target identified you. The attacks on you shows the mission name, the attacker if you where able to identify them, the date and time of the mission and whether the mission was a success.

SPY TERMINAL/ONGOING: This page shows any ongoing missions you have. The page shows the mission name, the target and an estimated time until the mission is complete. there is also a button in the action bar where you can STOP the mission.

HANGAR

This page takes you to your hanger terminal, from here you can manage the equipment set up of your droid. Your hangar holds a maximum of 30 items.

HANGER TERMINAL/DROID CONFIG: This shows the current configuration of your droid. This page gives a picture of each item, the statistics of the item and any RSL bonus the item gives. On this page you can unequip items, repair items, recycle item, upgrade item, change the class of items and donate items to the corp armoury. These action can be done individually or multiple items can be selected. This page also shows how many slots (and special slots) are available on your droid and how many upgrade points you have.

UPs - Upgrade Points (can be used on any upgradeable equipment statistic).

Off. UPs - Offensive Upgrade Points (can be used on weapons).

Def. UPs. - Defense Upgrade Points (can be used on shields).

Class UPs. - Class Upgrade Points (Upgrade the base stats of classed equipment such as weapons and shields. Class UPs are non-recyclable).

HANGER TERMINAL/SPARE PARTS: This page displays the picture and stats of any unequipped items you have. you can also recycle, repair, donate and upgrade items from this page.

HANGER TERMINAL/FU MARKET LINK: This page allows you to buy equipment. FU Market is divided into eight sections:
Frames Allows you to purchase frames
Radars Allows you to purchase Radars
Weapons Allows you to purchase Weapons
Radio Allows you to purchase communication devices
Scripts Allows you to purchase pre-made RSL scripts
Special Devices Allows you to purchase special devises
Processors Allows you to purchase processors
Shields Allows you to purchase Shields

The stats of each item can be found by clicking on the name (which brings up the Digit Pad) FU Markets shows the level and cost of each item.

HANGER TERMINAL/CORP ARMOURY: This page shows the corp armoury. from here Military Advisors (MAs) can allocate items to corp members and corp members can request items donated by other players. When donated items are stripped of upgrade points (in the same way as recycling) and returned to the original owner. The corp armoury holds 50 items.

BASE / SIMULATION

SIMULATIONS: This page allows you to perform simulation. This allows you to test RSL scripts without using any Arena Points (APs).

Simulations are done in a number of easy to follow steps.

  • First you pick the arena type.
  • Next You pick the number of ticks the arena will run for.
  • Last you pick the number of droids (beside yourself) in the arena.
  • You chose the teams of the CPU controlled droids.
  • Next chose the script the CPU controlled droids use.
  • Next confirm the price
Simulations cost CRs and CPs depending on the elements you picked. The time varies depending on the complexity of the simulation most will take a few minutes up to a few hours to run.

TERMINAL / ARENAS.DA

This section allows you to interact with the game.

ARENA.DA: This takes you to the arenas page. By default the arenas in join suitable for your level is loaded. There are several Tabs you can use

All Arenas: This shows all the active arenas.

Arenas In Join. This shows all arenas in the Join Phase.

Corp Arenas: This shows all the active arenas owned by your corporation.

Arenas For Me: This is the Default page and shows the arenas that you can join.

Arenas in Bets: Shows the arenas in the Bets Phase.

Arenas in Play: Shows the arenas in the Play Phase.

Arenas in Results: Show the arenas in the Results Phase

Arenas are displayed alphabetically by the name of the city. the income (in stars), corp owner of the city, the length of the arena (in TICKs), the phase the arena is in, the number of players in the arena, the limitations of the arena, the defense bonus the city offers and the number of ORBS in the arena.

This page also tells you how many Arena Points (APs) you have. Premium accounts gain 5 arena points a day (that accumulate) Trail users gain at 5 Aps a day, the first week of the season  decreasing to 2 APs a day non accumulative.

BETS.DA: This page allows you to place bets on arenas. Arenas on this page are displayed alphabetically, showing the name, the number of players, the limitations, the ORBS and your bet (if you have placed one) Clicking on PLACE BETS will take you to a page that shows the players in the arena. This betting page allows you to see the corp and stats of each player to allow you to place a bet on who will win the arena (by holding the doll when the arena ends) or you can bet that no one will hold the doll. You can also choose how much you wish to bet. Once all the arenas has played you will receive a wager ticket that shows who you bet on, the odds you got for betting, who won the arena and how much you received from the bet.

TOURNAMENTS: This page shows all the information related to tournaments. Military Advisors are the only people that can manage Tournaments teams, by creating, modifying or deleting a team (one team per corp) they can also join or leave a tournament (until the tournament starts) Once a tournament is in effect you can view the team draws and the results of any played matches (winning/drawing/losing tournament matches yield points which can also be viewed). Tournaments are knock out league style matches where the teams are divided into groups. Teams play the people in their group with the teams with the most points in each group moving onto the next round until there is one winner.

DECKERS.NET: This page allows you to search for players or corps by name. You can then see the player information or corp information.

CORPFLAGS.INFO: This allows you to view all the approved corp flags in Droidarena.

TOPLIST:

This allows you to see the rankings of Droidarena. The rankings are divided into a number of categories some player based and some corp based. The range of rankings can be view by 10, 50 or 100. The rankings available to view are:

PLAYERS: Player XP, Loners XP, Kills, Arenas Won, Arenas Lost and Weekly Form

CORPS: Corp Ranking. City Ratio, Kills, Kill Ratio and Weekly Form.

MONSTERNET: This opens the external game forum in a new window.

GLOBAL CHAT: This opens the in game IRC (Internet Relay Chat) in a new window. Here you can chat with players and admin.

EMAIL: This allows you to view you DA Email box. You can see received mails here or you write mails to other people. An icon that resembles an envelope will appear in the top bar when you have received a new mail.

PERSONAL FILES

This section allow you to see your personal files.

BLACKBOX LOGS: This is one of the most important sections in Droidarena. From here you can view the logs of you past arenas (up to 10), allowing you to see how you performed. You can see who you damaged, who damaged you and who killed who. The end of you log will show a breakdown of the experience you gained and the resources you gained. Blackbox logs are displayed by date/time and you can view the logs in text form or 3D movie form. You can also se a simple results page showing the xps from the arena as well who won and who held the doll.

SCRIPT LIBRARY: This page allows you to manage the script your droid uses in arenas. You and upload or delete script or create scripts using the blank script generator or using the BB Script generator (the generator will give you options based on the commands available to you).

CORPORATION

This section allows you to view and manage the corporation aspects of the game.

CITIES: This page allows you to view the cities, either as the cities you own (and allows you to deploy orbs if you are a MA or LEADER) or to search the cities listing (based on a number of variables such as name, income in stars or corp or independent owned, percentage chance that the city will come up as an arena or the number of fights played in the city) (MAs or LEADERs can also play RAID cards to increase the percentage chance that the city will become an arena.

MEMBERS: This page shows the members of your corp by name and position. Player levels are also shown as is online status and arena status.

CORP POSITIONS:

Leader: Can approve and fire members. Can also change positions of members and give members medals.

Approvers: Can Hire (or reject) people who apply to the corp

Communication Supervisor: Can Delete any thread in the Corp Forum.

Construction Manager: Can give CPs to any member from the Corp Bank.

Finance Advisor: Can give CRs to any member from the Corp Bank

Military Advisor: Can play Raid Cards and buy ORBS. Cans also allocate equipment from the Corp Armoury.

Representative: Can Update the Corp Information Page

Research Specialist: Can give RPs to any member from the Corp Bank.

Member: Any member of the corp without a position.

BANK: This page gives you an overview of the corp resources. Here you can donate resources to the corp (unless you are a Trail user) or if you hold a position in the corp you are able to give a resource to a member (using the PID) Members can also request resources, this is useful if a resource manager is not online, the manager can then see who has requested resources and allocate them.

FORUM: This takes you to the corp internal Forum. Here you can post threads and view and reply to threads. Any player can delete a thread they started. The forum is divided into 4 section

It is up to corps to manage there forums. Threads are displayed in order of most recent post (the date a thread was started is also displayed) New posts cause an icon of a talking head to appear by the thread and the same icon appears in the top bar.

CORP CHAT: This opens a new window that links you to your corps public IRC channel. Here you can communicate and chat with your corp mates easily.

CORP Radio: This opens the corp radio. This is primarily used for brief messages to others in the corp.

WEB: This page (also known as 'Corp Identity') allows LEADERs and REPs to update the corp info page (which can be view from the corp page by clicking the [main] link. Here a description of your corp is displayed, the corp flag and any external link to fan-sites that the corp may have made. Their is also a link to send a request to join the corp on this page.

LOG: This page shows the recent log of corp activities (recourse/equipment transfers, medals, orb purchases, raid card, join request/rejections, member approvals, members that leave or are fired ). The log displays a description of the log and the date/time of the event. A full log can be seen with a link at the bottom of the page.

JOIN REQUESTS: This page allows APPROVERs and LEADERs to see join requests. They can then view the stats of player and choice whether to approve or reject the request. APPROVERs and LEADERs will get an A icon appear on the top bar when a request has been made.

LEAVE CORP: This page allows you to leave your corp.
