GETTING STARTED

This section explains the very basics of the game - equipping your robot and making it fight in an arena.

Welcome to Droidarena 3! As you may have already noticed, there are many new features available. Old and new players alike may be confused by what to do at first, and the purpose of this guide is to show all players how to play the new game.

After you have logged in, the first thing you will need to do is enable yourself to access arenas. Click on the research image at the top of the page. It looks like this: This will take you to your Lab Terminal, where you can start new researches by clicking on the "PROJECTS" tab. From here you will be able to tell your team of scientists what to start work on. Simply click on the "START" button next to the "Arena Teleport" research. (Note: This research may already be completed for you, in which case you can start researching other things - check out the research tree to see what researches will become available.)

Next, you will need to buy some equipment for your robot. Unfortunately, Fu Market was shut down for illegal trading, and the infamous Uncle Fu has been forced to continue as an offical market trader. Click on the hangar image at the top. It looks like this: Old players will immediately notice the change in layout, but for now simply click on "FU MARKET LINK".

The first thing you will need is a frame - this is the basic design of your robot, and holds the rest of your equipment. Click on this image from the rotating circle:. You will now see a list of frames, however, only 2 will be available to you at first. Unavailable equipment is highlighted in red. Choose a frame to buy - it doesn't really matter which one, both the level 1 frames have the same stats. When you have decided, click on 'Order' to purchase it.

Now, choose the rest of your equipment. You will need a weapon, a shield, a radar and a processor in order to fight in an arena. However, you do not have to buy just one of each - you may buy as much equipment as you can fit on your frame. However, you have a limited amount of CRs (money) to spend. The amount of CRs you have remaining is shown at the top of the screen. A good initial setup is 2x Silencer F5 weapons, Scanking A60 radar, Protec S shield and the Mastermind processor. Remember to save about 5,000 CR for repairs after your first fight.

Now that you have bought all your equipment, you need to set it up so it's ready for an arena. Click on the "SPARE PARTS" tab. This is where your equipment is delivered after it's been purchased. You will see that the equipment you just bought is now listed here. To equip everything, check the checkboxes by each item and click on this image: . If your frame has enough slots, everything should equip - however if your frame is too small, you will have to decide which equipment you don't need. (Remember - you need at least 1 weapon, shield, radar and proccessor). After a piece of equipment has been equipped, it will be shown on the "DROID CONFIG" screen instead of in the spare parts hangar.

Now that you have everything equipped - you will need to teach your robot what to do once it gets into the arena. To do this, you will need to generate a script or buy a script in Robot Scripting Language (RSL). You can find the RSL manual here. If you prefer, you can purchase a script from the market. Click on this image: in the Fu Market Link.

Click on the Script Library image at the top. It looks like this: Here you can create new scripts with '>Generate new Script' link and upload them. A good generated setup to start with is 'Use Shot' on, 'On Initialisation' 'Wander' selected, 'On See Enemy' 'Fire and follow' selected and 'On Doll Visible' 'Fetch and Move On' selected. After you're happy, click 'Geneate' and 'Save'.

After you have either generated or bought a script, you will need to upload it to your processor.  Scripts you have bought or generated are shown in the list. Choose the script you want to upload, then click on 'Upload'. Uploaded scripts have an arrow ( ) next to them.

You're all set! You now have a fully equipped bot with an uploaded script. If your 'Arena Teleport' research has finished, you are now ready to join an arena and fight against other people's bots. Click on the Arenas image at the top () This screen lists all the arenas, however, you will only be able to fight in a few of them - as many arenas have limitations on them. To easily see which ones you can join, select 'List joinable arenas which suit me' from the dropdown list. Pay careful attention to the limitations column. You will want to join an arena which has similiar limitations to the level you are currently at. Low level players will find it very difficult joining arenas which are designed for high level players. :3 :6 means that you have to be at least level 3 and no higher than level 6 in order to join the arena. Find an arena that suits you, then click on 'JOIN!' After you have joined an arena, you will be able to see who you will be fighting against. If your name is the only one in the list - don't worry, it's likely that other players will join you later.

While the fight is going on its a good idea to check out the Toplist () and 'OFFICIAL CORP RANKINGS' and start looking for a Corp to join.  Corps are groups of people that can help each other and fight together as teams in the arenas.  If you click on the Corp names you will go to the corp info pages.  Look at 'MEMBERS' to see how they are doing and decide if you want to join them by clicking on the light blue star that says 'CLICK HERE TO JOIN US'.  Its a good idea to send off a few join requests to the big and small Corps.  You can always move later.

Another new feature of Droidarena 3 is the ability to construct your base. Click on the Structures image ()at the top. If you have finished the "Construction Team" research, you will be able to build new structures for your base. First of all you'll need to construct the "Droid Base". This is the initial base building that gives you 30 tiles to work with. Each additional building will take up more tiles, so you need to plan carefully. Check out the "BLUEPRINTS" tab to see all the buildings. The "DROID BASE" tab shows you all your constructed buildings, and what effects they're having. For example, the droid base looks like this:

< td valign=middle align=middle bgcolor="##314044">
QTTBUILDING Intel %ACTION
1x Droid Base  25  30  100  50

This means that the Droid Base gives you 25 tiles, 30 people, 100 CRs per turn, 50 CPs per turn and 5 RPs per turn. Some buildings cost CR to run, in which case they will have a negative figure in this column, and you will lose CRs every turn.

After the next tick, the arena enters 'Bets' phase (It is during this phase that you can place bets on players in arenas to win CR's. You need to have completed the "Gambling" research first.) The bets phase lasts 1 tick, and then the arena enters 'Play' phase. This is the phase where the robots in the arena fight each other. A few minutes after the tick, the results of the arena should be available for you to view or read. Click on the Blackbox Logs image (). This page lists all the results from the last 10 arenas you have fought in. Click on 'movie' to watch what happened in the arena, or 'Text Log' if you want to read what happened. If you choose text log, writing in aqua shows shots you have fired at another bot, and writing in red shows shots that have been fired at you. For more information go to the 'Blackbox Logs' help page.

Congratulations! You have just equipped your robot, taught it what to do, made it join an arena, and seen the results of the arena. This completes the basic startup guide. If you want to learn about the game in more detail use the in-game manual.

The game manual can be foundhere and the RSL manual is here or you can find both under the help link in the menu.
